2021 IRAAL Annual Conference: Applying Linguistics in the 21st Century
November 26–27, 2021
University College Dublin, Ireland
The Irish Association of Applied Linguistics (IRAAL) annual conference brings together researchers in all areas of linguistics working in Ireland or internationally. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Applying Linguistics in the 21st Century’.
This theme was chosen to represent the changing face of Applied Linguistics in Ireland and abroad. Applied Linguistics is sometimes understood as being restricted to language learning and teaching, but as the Covid-19 pandemic has taught us, we are doing much more than teaching and learning languages. Through discussions, we can learn much more about the globalisation of language learning and how we are reimagining the traditional paradigms of Applied Linguistics. The 2021 IRAAL Annual Conference will reflect the broadness of our experiences and the myriad areas of cognate disciplines to which we contribute. In this spirit, the Organising Committee wishes to invite you to the 2021 IRAAL Annual Conference. We intend to meet live online for the conference beginning on Friday morning, November 26th and continuing on Saturday afternoon, November 27th to accommodate as many time zones as possible.
The topics for papers may include, but are not restricted to:
Bilingualism; Classroom Language Use; Corpus Linguistics; Discourse Studies; EAP; First and Second Language Acquisition; Forensic Linguistics; Language Policy; Linguistic Landscapes; Multilingualism; Pedagogy; Phonology; Second and Foreign Language Learning; Sociolinguistics; TESOL; Teaching Methodology; Translanguaging; and Translation Studies.
Submissions from postgraduate students and early career researchers are particularly welcomed.
